1. Printer Status Monitor

The Printer Status Monitor is a utility program 
dedicated for Sharp printers that is compatible with 
the SNMP protocol version 1.

2. Operation Environment

The Printer Status Monitor can be used in the operation
environment shown below.

(1) Computer
IBM PC/AT compatibles machine.

(2) Monitor
800 x 600 pixels or more and 256 colors or more are 
needed.

(3) Operating system
* Windows 8.1:
* Windows Server 2012:
* Windows Server 2012 R2:
* Windows 10:
* Windows Server 2016:
* Windows Server 2019:
* Windows 11:
* Windows Server 2022:
     No extra software is needed.

(4) Memory
128 MB of memory or higher recommended

(5) Hard disk
At least 30 MB of available hard disk space is needed to install.

3. LPR Software

    To monitor a SHARP printer, need the peer-to-peer 
    printing service via TCP/IP in your system. 

It is confirmed that the Printer Status Monitor runs 
correctly for the printer added with [print port] in 
the following format in your system.

(1) IP address
    (Example: 192.168.1.15)
(2) Host name in the domain name system (DNS)
    (Example: prn1) prn1 must have been registered to 
    the DNS.
(3) IP address:port name
    (Example: 192.168.1.15:lp)
(4) DNS host name:port name
    (Example: prn1:lp)
(5) IP_{IP address} [Standard TCP/IP Port]
    (Example: IP_192.168.1.15)
(6) S_IP_{IP address} [SC TCP/IP Port]
    (Example: S_IP_192.168.1.15)
(7) S2_IP_{IP address} [SC2 TCP/IP Port]
    (Example: S2_IP_192.168.1.15)

Note:
* It can't be recognized an IP address of a printer
  from [print port] in the following format:

      ACITSLPR_1 (ACITS LPR Software for example)
      \\192.168.1.15\lp
      \\prn1\lp
      C:\out\lp\job

* For a printer that it can't be recognized its
 IP address, you may set its IP address in the following way:

  (a)
      Once launching the printer status monitor, after 
      you print your job at the first time, the IP 
      address of the printer is set automatically by the
      Printer Status Monitor.

  (b)
      "IP address input" dialogs is shown, when the
      Printer Status Monitor is launched and it detects
      the IP address isn't recognized from its 
      [print port].

      It is shown that the name of the printer whose IP 
      address isn't recognized.
      In the case that you make the printer to be 
      monitored, input its IP address correctly. 
      In the case that you make the printer NOT to be 
      monitored, check the checkbox of the 
      "After this, the printer will not be monitored".

      Once setting a printer not to be monitored, 
      to make the printer to be monitored, you may edit
      the "Printers.txt" text manually.
      After exiting the Printer Status Monitor, edit the
      "Printers.txt" text, and then launch the Printer
      Status Monitor.

      To show the "Printers.txt" text, from the "Start"
      menu, select the "Edit IP Addresses."
      Edit the IP address of the printer you want to
      be monitored. To get more detail information, see
      "Printers.txt" text.

      When an IP address of a printer itself is changed,
      "IP address input" dialogs is also shown.
      Set the IP address of the printer in the above way.

3rd Party Print Spooler Products

If you are using the ACITS print spooler software, then 
make sure that is it at least version 3.5 or later. 
As previous versions of the ACITS print spooler product
will cause the Printer Status Monitor to display 
"Information cannot be retrieved" error.

4. Installation/Uninstallation

To install or uninstall the Printer Status Monitor, use 
the "Administrator" privilege. If another user installs
or uninstalls it, the settings may not be proper.

5. Technical Support Information

(1) Insertion and removal of PCMCIA network card

If a PCMCIA card is removed or inserted while the 
Printer Status Monitor is operating, a malfunction may 
occur. Be careful not to remove or insert a PCMCIA card
in any cases while the Printer Status Monitor is 
operating.

(2) Paper Amount in the Detail View Dialog (Status Window)

Paper amount is indicated with icons in two or five 
levels, depending on printer models.

Paper amount and icon are not shown on the following models:
  AR-M150/M155/168S/168D/158F/168N/168L/208S/208D/M200/M201
  FO-DC550
  AL-2051/MX-B201/B201D/AL-2061/FO-2081

(3) The Printer Status of the Auto Power Shut-off

The Printer status monitor shows the latest status
just before the "Auto power shut-off", 
when the printer is in the "Auto power shut off".

(4) The Printer Status about the Toner Status

The Printer status about the toner status on is shown
as follows:

The Printer status is "No toner" when the Black toner
is empty regardless of the other toners.

The Printer status is "Toner Low" when the Color toner
(Yellow or Magenta or Cyan) is empty and the Black
toner is not empty because monochrome printing is
possible.  Please check which color toner is empty on
supplies information in the Detail dialog.

The Printer status is "Toner Low" when any toner is low.

(5) About the Network Expansion Kit "AR-NB2/NB3/MX-NB10"

On the following models,

  AR-M160/M205/5220
  AR-M150/M155/168S/168D/158F/168N/168L/208S/208D/M200/M201
  FO-DC550
  AR-M161/M162/M165/M206/M207
  MX-M160/M160D/M200D

when the model name on the detail dialog is "SHARP
AR-NB2/NB3/MX-NB10", it has the possibility that the USB connection
of the machine and the network expansion kit "AR-NB2/NB3/MX-NB10"
are disconnected, and the Printer Status Monitor can't
indicate the status of the machine properly.  Please
make sure the connection of the machine and the network
expansion kit "AR-NB2/NB3/MX-NB10".
