Hi, this is the RageLtMan Unified Driver. Its a special driver for the ATI Rage Pro,( XL, XC,) LT, and Mobility line of cards. Its designed for maximum performance in games (using what's available as of 8/14/2000). First of all, i would like to thank the early beta test team, Cheran Shunmugavel, Rob Ellsworth, Wes Miser, Scott Arthur and Tom Arnett. These guys provided me with some of the components, moral support, and a lot of questions during development :-D. They also tested these drivers out on their own hides before they were released for general consumption, which kept the drivers safer for the end user. I'd also like to thank my "boss" MrB at Rage3D.com for providing me a good place to put this stuff. Last but not least, i'd like to give due credit to the great people at the Rage3d Rage Pro forum who've pushed me and given me an excellent beta testing team to work with.
This driver set includes support for DirectX7, OpenGL, and lots of sub features of both. One of my favorites being a working version of the Rage Pro's single-pass multi-texturing (which is usable in Unreal Tournament). A more extensive feature list will be available in a later version of the readme/driver.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Run Setup.exe as you would with any other driver. For EverQuest patch please see below.
Notes: you need DX7 installed on your system prior to running setup.exe. You can contact me at RageLtMan@rage3d.com.

	Version Log:
GDB6- First released version. Incorporates core components consisting of those found in a beta release of WinMe.
GDB7- Second released version. Incorporates a faster OpenGL ICD than GDB6. Also uses a new vxab.vxd which is designed to alleviate some of the problems associated with mip-mapping, performs better too.
GDB7.5- Third released version. Uses a new install process (I stopped being lazy, sorted out the components, and made everything installable using the setup.exe), includes a new set of core components, and a new D3D HAL. Provides a slight performance increase over GDB7 in D3D, but not in OpenGL seeing as it uses the same OpenGL ICD. Also uses anew d3d-ogl.reg file that should help users who were previously unable to access the advanced options provided in the RageLtMan drivers.
GDB7.6-Reinstated OpenGL ICD V.4.11.1091 which operates a bit slower, but allows for the implementation of some new features. However, this GL ICD is slower in q3. so if you'd like to play q3 at a slightly higher framerate, please download the OpenGL ICD addon. Worked through some of the d3d crashing problems, mainly the ones which were caused when AGP texturing was used for prolonged periods of time, some others as well.
GDB7.7- As you may've noticed, 7.6 never made it to the public, this was due to a few small issues, which are corrected in 7.7. This release includes a few rolled back versions of the core components. This is for performace and stability issues. However, the D3D HardwareAccelerationLayer (HAL) is the newest one i have, and the fastest. These modifications should provide for a better D3D gaming experience. On the OpenGL front, i've included the 1085 ICD, which seems to work better with Soldier Of Fortune, and other games, while not losing its edge when it comes to Quake3 (which most other ICDs do). Feature wise, i've created a new sub folder for this GD, it's called "Reg Files." The folder contains three files, the beloved d3d-ogl.reg file which enables options for D3D and OpenGL in the advanced display properties. The other two files are HMDL files, one will enable HMDL, the other will disable it. HMDL "will place the video command stream into AGP memory. This should give you a performance boost in games that have a lot of vertices." Althought this option really does work, i reccomend it for people with lots of RAM. I noticed a major difference only after i installed a 128 meg chip in computer (which brought me up to 160). If you get problems after using the enabler file, disable HMDL with the other file. Please note that you must reboot before any chage takes effect.
GDB7.8/FDv2- This is a big one people. Ok, new features: This is a Final Driver which is based on GD technology (in lamens terms, WinMe components). It uses a Win98 core driver to provide dual monitor, tv-out, and other features. This driver incorporates components from GDB7.75 (never released), and the RLTM Final Driver v1. Unlike the first FD, this is no crude attempt at a working driver. It's independant, and kicks the living hell out of the first FD, performance-wise. You no longer need to install the j5.11.b20's under this thing. This is also a viable GD substitute, offering gaming performance which is close to the GD standard most are used to (a bit slower in some places). Implementing the fastest OpenGL ICD, it will allow you to play pretty much every GL game out to date (today is the 28 of June, 2000). Another feature, is the refined d3d-ogl.reg file. This one accomodates for those who have a somewhat different registry setup. I hope that you enjoy this, please email me any comments, questions, and the like.
GDB7.9 - Another GD release, this one again focuses on speed vs multimedia. Although similar to GDB7.5 and 7.7, this version incorporates new components in an attempt to make it more compatible with a wider range of games. It also adds a few frames here and there, and somwhat stabilizes the driver as compared to 7.7. This version basically combines the stability of 7.5 with the speed of 7.7( and then some). Enjoy.
GDB8/UDv1: Well, this is it people, this is 8, the milestone. Tv-out, DVD, multi-monitor, and more horsepower than ever before. It fixes fillrate problems, corrects some multi-tex issues, and does lots of cool stuff. However, i did not meet some of my goals, i could not fix Half-Life and some other things. This, is bad, so I guess i'll keep working on it. Anyway, enjoy, because this is as good as it's gotten yet.
UDv1.1: The monster gets an update. UDv1's had a few things added, including a new DVD authentication system and an upgraded D3D system (the one from the GD's). It should now run DeusEx faster due to it's improved AGP access speed. This should also allow Vampire to run. I've also changed the core driver to remove instabilities in EverQuest and other D3D games. GL remains the same (i plan to work with it for Udv1.2 or GDb8.5).
UDV1.11: Fixed the 1400x1050 resolution problem, and added on a few FPS here and there. Enjoy :).

FAQ:
#1- Instructions for the clean install: Change the video card to standard VGA by going into the driver tab in the cards properties. Then, open the start menu, start regedit, and delete thehkey/localmachine/software/ati technologies key. Reboot. upon reboot you'll have 640x480x8 desktop, this is good. Go into the windows/system folder and delete all files that start with "ati." Do the same in windows/system32 and windows/inf/other. Then, install the new driver.
#2- Instructions for EQ patch: First install GDb8 as per instructions, then place the files from the EverQuest Patch directory (not the readme.txt) into the main install dir (backup the orignals though) and run setup again.

Lastly, the DISCLAIMER: These drivers are completely unsupported by ATI, or any other company. They cannot provide support for these, because they have NO experience with these, and in NO WAY endorse the use of these drivers. Secondly, neither I (Boris Lukashev) nor Rage3d.com or any of it's staff member and users, take resposibility for what you do with these drivers, and/or what these driver may do to you, your software, or hardware (this also applies to the RageLtMan Early Beta Test team). Also, there is NO OFFICIAL support provided for these drivers, however, i Boris Lukashev, will as always try to help you in any way i can, feel free to email me at RageLtMan@rage3d.com for support issues/questions/etc. This disclaimer functions in conjunction with any and all disclaimers posted at rage3d.com.

The alleviation: the former is to insure that nobody tries to take advantage of anyone, sorry if it sounded harsh, but that's what it should be to keep people from hurting other people. I'm not a lawyer (in fact i'm 15, 16 if you're reading this after may 28 2k), so dont worry, i'm just trying to be thorough. :-).
